How JOE Studies collects, uses and protects your personal data.
Last updated:
This policy explains what personal data JOE Studies collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. It is written to follow the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017 and the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
This website is run by JOE Studies (Mauritius) Ltd, 6th Floor, Max Tower, Jummah Mosque St, Port Louis, Mauritius (“JOE Studies”, “we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can contact us about privacy at info@joestudies.com.
We only collect what you choose to give us, plus limited technical data.
When you send an enquiry or book a consultation: your name, email address, WhatsApp number, country of residence, who you are (for example student, parent or institution), what you are interested in, how you heard about us, and any message you write.
When you use the Pathway Finder or the Eligibility Pre-check and ask us to contact you: your answers to the questions, together with the contact details above. The Eligibility Pre-check asks only whether you have had a previous visa refusal (yes or no). It does not ask for details.
When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address and your consent.
Technical data: the page you sent a form from, campaign codes in the link you followed, and your IP address, which we use briefly to prevent spam and abuse.
We do not ask for documents such as passports, transcripts or bank statements through this website.
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and arranging a consultation | Your consent, and steps you ask us to take before entering into an agreement |
| Sending the newsletter | Your separate consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Keeping the website secure and free of spam | Our legitimate interest in protecting the service |
| Website analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies) | Your consent |
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. The Eligibility Pre-check result is an indicative self-check shown to you, not a decision.
Some of these providers may process data outside Mauritius. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by the Data Protection Act 2017.
We keep enquiry data only for as long as we need it to respond to you and provide our services, then delete it. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Backups are encrypted and expire on a rolling basis.
The website uses only the cookies needed for it to work, unless you choose otherwise. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time.
You have the right to:
To use any of these rights, email info@joestudies.com. We will reply as soon as we can, and within the time the law requires. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Office of Mauritius.
Our services are for students and their families. If you are under 18, we encourage you to involve a parent or guardian when you contact us.
We will update this page if the way we handle personal data changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
